Poland, since September 2020
For several years volunteers of the Lighthouse Center Poland have supported the elderly home in Mirsk with garden produce when we have a surplus. This year, during the COVID-19 pandemic, we provided additional fresh garden greens and vegetables to this home and other locals.

Our garden harvest was abundant: plenty of tomatoes, eggplants, zucchini, lettuce, mangold (Swiss chard), and different herbs.

We were happy to share the abundance of our organically grown fresh produce with the elderly. Several times we delivered the fresh veggies to the home which were always gratefully received.
We were even asked if we could provide frozen Mangold (Swiss chard) to be used directly from their freezer throughout the winter.

We first thought through the needed hygienic steps in order to meet the requirements for this kind of charity activity during the COVID-19 pandemic. Then, with everyone pitching in for harvesting, washing, cutting, blanching and bagging the precious leaves, we managed to provide ten big 6l bags for their freezer.

We plan to continue sharing as long as the seasonal garden harvest enables us to do so.
