Ukraine, since June 2020

In the second half of spring, there were about 84 people in the Kharkov homeless center. According to the quarantine rules, people were not allowed to leave the center.

However, the people accepted such difficult conditions with humility. And the only thing that caused them anxiety was the periodic shortage of food.

Volunteers of the Know Thyself as Soul in Kharkov called the administration and learned the needs of the center. Then, volunteers arranged to provide the homeless with essential food items: vegetables, cereals, cookies, and instant noodles.

Once a week one of the volunteers drove boxes of groceries to the doorstep of the center. There he unloaded and helped carry the boxes to the nearest door.

Residents of the center conveyed messages of thanks. While appreciated, volunteers felt fulfilled by simply knowing the homeless were cared for.
