Poland, December 2019

In early December volunteers of Holosophic Society Poland visited a care home for the elderly in Mirsk and spent a musical and creative afternoon together. Upon arriving, the home residents greeted us with a warm welcome. They were eagerly awaiting to begin singing traditional Polish Christmas songs and later accompanying the music with different percussion instruments we had brought along. The music brought back childhood memories of Christmas celebrations and those of their own families. They were invited to share some of their memories which turned into a heart-warming sharing round and created a very personal atmosphere.

While the music and sharing were filling the air, many colorful Christmas decorations such as paper garlands and Advent wreaths were being made by some of the residents. During the tea time break, we shared our home baked cookies which were received with delight. Throughout the afternoon, we noticed a bright glow in the eyes of the residents and many friendly smiles when we left.
