A group of HSUK volunteers decided to spread some seasonal cheer over at the care home. We greeted the residents with mince pies and shared a cup of tea with them. Then one of us read a short Christmas story out aloud to a small group, which was warmly received. Afterwards we spent time talking with the elderly sharing experiences of their lives.
In true Christmas spirit we visited the following week again this time dressed in Santa hats to sang Christmas carols for the residents. The singing flowed melodiously and the residents and care home staff joined in – a joyous experience for all. After having some chats with the residents we said our fond farewells.
