Supporting Children in Portugal

During the spring and summer the Holosophic Society Portugal (HSP) has been involved in several charity activities. In April 2015 we started collecting rice, oil, beans and other items to be given to poor families in the neighborhood.

Shortly after that, our society had another chance to do a joint action for the benefit of others. A nearby shop wanted to give away toys and other material for children to make space for new items in the shop. We took the offer and from May until the end of July, members of the HSP were sorting and cleaning all the items. Everything was donated to three different private and public institutions, which support poor children in difficult family situations. School material, toys and clothes were urgently required and our support for this project was greatly appreciated by the organisations.

In autumn 2015, a teacher, member of our group, donated some primary school books to a public institution, which supports families lacking the necessary financial means to buy books for their children.

In October and November 2015, our volunteers had another chance to collect toys and other items from the same shop as before. This time, the toys, shoes, and other items found their way to Mozambique. The contact was made through a Portuguese nurse who travels there frequently and knows the needs of the African children.
