August Retreat 2015
Lighthouse Center® Poland
From 15-23 August 2015, the Lighthouse Center Poland was turned into a different place: people from 18 different countries visited the European Center and actively participated in the daily life as well as specially organised activities. With so many helping hands, astounding projects were accomplished, such as 150 heart-shaped cushions for charity purposes, or a 300 m long walkway in the new park landscape. Besides the meditation tent and the dining facility, the chai tent and the LCP shop seemed to be the most popular places. During the last days of the retreat, an event organised by the HSI took place, including a charity activity for a homeless shelter in the local area, and a big farewell party with lots of surprises. Below you find some visual impressions and comments of the participants:
Retreat Scenes & Locations
MEDITATION & DINING TENT, SHOP, CHAI TENT, GUEST SERVICES, KITCHEN & MORE
Besides the meditation tent and the dining facilities, which were obviously well used, the chai tent and the LCP souvenir shop were very popular too.
Activities
There were a number of different activities for the participants to choose from, depending on their individual skills, capacities and preferences.
GARDEN & STRAWBERRY PLANTING
HAY COLLECTING ON THE 7 HECTARES
The weather conditions were just perfect to take care of the hay on the seven hectares of land.
HERB SALT FROM FRESH LCP HERBS
The freshly cut herbs were used to make herb salt or other products such as lavender bags.
SEWING HEART, SHEEP CUSHIONS AND LCP PRODUCTS
In the sewing workshop, over a hundred sheep and heart-shaped cushions were made for charity, and a lot of other beautiful handicraft products were created to be sold at the LCP souvenir shop.
LANDSCAPING: BUILDING A PATHWAY FOR THE LCP PARK AREA
The project of building a pathway through the new LCP park area was also successful. While a core group of strong volunteers worked on it throughout the entire retreat, more than 80 retreat participants joined them for a couple of hours. Together they were forming a bucket brigade to spread the fine gravel for the top layer.
HSI Event & Homeless Shelter Charity
During the last two days of the retreat, an event organised by the Holosophic Society International (HSI) took place, which included a big charity activity for a homeless shelter. The manager of the accommodation, who had built it up from scratch through his own initiative, gave a speech to the participants at the event.
After that, everyone helped to pack the donated items like food and cleaning material etc. for the shelter into boxes. They also prepared some small, nicely wrapped personal gifts for each one of the approximately 60 inhabitants.
