In West Oxfordshire district, UK there are around 29 nursing homes and senior centres which need items for their residents. The most important items that are in need are blankets and shawls, so needlework was chosen as an activity to help the elderly residents.read more
After the successful summer retreat last year, the event was held again at the Lighthouse Center Poland in August 2016. People from 18 different countries visited the European Centre and actively participated in the daily life as well as specially organised activities, and a number of astounding projects were accomplished.read more
Due to the increasing amount of homes for elderly in Spain, and the amount of the permanent residents in these homes, a group visited a nursing home in Levante.read more
The first HSI Youth event took place from 12. – 15. May 2016 in a Red Cross owned resort in Debeli rtič, Slovenia.
More than 20 persons from 9 different countries participated. We spent some beautiful days together and even though the weather conditions weren’t in our favour most of the time, the feeling among us was very heart warming.read more
Our first international meeting was held in the Youth Hostel in Debeli rtič and was attended by friends from Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia, Austria, Spain, Bulgaria, Belgium and the Czech Republic.
Our aim was to find new ideas on how to engage in charitable activities in our respective areas.
A group of volunteers decided to take some elderly residents from a local retirement home for a walk through the old town of Ljubljana. Due to staff shortage, the elderly residents do not often benefit from social activities outside the retirement home. It goes without saying that not only the residents but also the employees are grateful to the support of our volunteers.read more

During the last months, several groups within the HSI region have got involved in voluntary activities for the elder generation. According to the local needs and possibilities, the activities range from private support of individuals to group projects such as musical performances in retirement homes. Based on the idea of caring for other people and the environment, various groups in different countries within the region of the Holosophic Society International have started different charity projects in order to bring about a change in their communities. All activities have been funded by donations and carried out by volunteers.
